LAUNCH.ed, the University of Edinburgh’s award-winning service for student entrepreneurs, will be funding up to 10 students to attend Startup Weekend Edinburgh! Current University of Edinburgh students – and graduates within two years of their graduation date – may apply for one of the sponsored places by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with up to 100 words on why they’d like to attend the weekend.
The sponsorship comes as part of LAUNCH.ed’s participation on the European-funded Open Innovation Project, a three year, multi-million euro initiative to promote Open Innovation methodologies and techniques across northwest Europe.
Hilary Singer Roberts, Innovation Project Officer at LAUNCH.ed, says, “Startup Weekend is a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurial students to network with high-calibre mentors, develop their technical and business skills, and get first-hand experience of what it feels like to launch a new web product. It’s also a perfect training ground to learn and test open innovation techniques. That’s an important outcome for us as partners on the Open Innovation Project, and something that events like Startup Weekend do exceptionally well. I’m delighted to be able to offer students the chance to take part in what’s going to be an exhilarating and inspirational event.”
